Active Shooter Survival Training for School Staff
Today’s school personnel must be prepared for an active shooter situation—especially since data compiled by the National Center for Education Statistics indicates that school shootings are on the rise. A.L.I.V.E.’s Active Shooter Survival Training Program can help school and university staff fully prepare for mass shooting incidents, enabling them to better respond.
What Is School Active Shooter Survival Training?
During A.L.I.V.E.’s active shooter survival training program, school personnel learn how to identify the behaviors that often precede active shooter incidents on school grounds. Knowing these warning signs is often a good first step to stopping a tragic situation before it occurs. School staff also learn the five most important steps to take during an active shooter event: Assess, Leave, Impede, Violence, and Expose.
Simulated School-Based Active Shooter Response
A critical part of A.L.I.V.E.’s active shooter survival training program is helping participants take what they’ve learned and put it into action. That’s why we work with school personnel to create scenarios they may encounter during an active shooter situation. Should a real event occur, this enables them to operate on muscle memory, making their response more automatic.
